Bowburn Care Centre
Location and contact details
Bowburn Care Home, formally Morgan House in the former Northumbrian mining village of Bowburn, is a new purpose-built care home for older people.
There are easy road links to nearby Durham city centre.
The care home, which specialises in residential, nursing and dementia care, has four units named after the coal seams well known in the village – Hutton, Brockwell, Low Main and Henderson.
Each 17-bedded unit has its own lounges, dining rooms and fully-equipped bathrooms with the latest facilities to ensure the health and safety of residents with limited mobility. Each bedroom has en-suite washing facilities.
Regular activities let residents pursue new hobbies and maintain familiar past-times such as art and crafts, flower arranging and games. There are also visits from entertainers.
